This Defender Security doorknob lock-out device is designed to be mounted directly over the entry doorknob to prevent access to the keyhole only, effectively preventing unauthorized access by key. The durable, diecast cylinder is held in place with a removable O-ring for cleaning the cylinder when the lock-out device is unlocked and open. The cylinder cannot be removed when the device is closed and locked. This lock-out device is often used in evictions, rentals, home sales, on job sites, in-home, on in-office storage room knobs to keep other keyholders out, even if they have a key to the door. It is a quicker and easier solution than replacing the entire knob and lock system on a door while still getting the protection you need. The maximum outside diameter of a round knob that can be secured with this device is 2-7/16 inch.

DIMENSIONS – This lock-out device can protect rounded doorknobs that have a max diameter of 2-7/16 inch. Note that the shaft cut-out is circular in shape and measures 1-3/16 inch, so it may fit loosely over doorknobs with smaller diameter slender shafts.

Keeps kids out of my room
I live in an apartment complex where I cannot add locks to the doors. I had issues with the kids living there repeatedly barging into my room and not leaving when instructed, or going in and taking / using my expensive items while I was out.I got this to lock my door from the outside when I’m not home, and doorjam lock for the inside of the door when I’m home. It’s worked like a charm; my items have stopped disappearing or becoming broken while I am out of the house.

I used this for an Airbnb room that I was renting in a multi-room Airbnb townhouse. The Airbnb hostess did not have any individual locking mechanisms on the rooms she was renting which made me uncomfortable, so with her approval, purchased a set and would place the knob lock out device on when I was gone for extended hours for work, this eliminated the probability of other guests who came and went from entering my personal space touching my items. Also, one was placed on the mixed-use bathroom that only had a lock on the side of the interior door of the bathroom, preventing someone from opening the door from the inside while I wasn’t home or asleep. The mechanism is easy to use, is sleek, solid-so a little heavy, excellent value and the color is modern and inconspicuous. Instructions are simple, it’s a lock and key. She was so impressed she purchased a couple for herself. This is super heavy duty. We bought it to prevent my father from dementia from leaving the house Probably much more suited for outdoor use. can be kind of awkward with locking but def does the job.

Great door lock
This works great when in need of a way to lock out a door. It’s all metal, I use it for the inside of the door to keep my dad from walking out, he has dementia, so this keeps him from leaving in the middle of the night when I’m sleeping.

Heavy duty lock that just was too big for an older model vehicle
I’m sure this is a great lock and it would have worked if there was more space between the door handle and the door. However it was too big and wouldn’t fit. The lock is heavy and it came with2 keys. I had to go with a hasp and lock. The deal of taking to Kohls for return was super cool. Didn’t have to print out return label, didn’t have to pack and ship! The lady readthe return from Amazon and scanned the UPC code and before I got home(3 blocks) my return monies was in my account. So easy and simple!

Works well for my doors, it has a strong construction. The issue is that all keys for these knobs and the same. I have now ordered, and am still awaiting the arrival of, a similar product which has a password lock, rather than the key lock, which will be better for my uses.
