I’m very security conscious, especially when I’m away from home, so I was immediately interested in this Anobeyi portable door lock. I already own several travel locks for hotel rooms and short-term rentals, but this one stands out as a larger, heavier-duty version with serious strength and durability. It’s solid aluminum alloy construction and tight-fitting design make it feel far more substantial than most compact travel locks I’ve used.The installation is simple — no drilling required — and once the rubber bumper is adjusted and the lock is secured in place, it holds firmly. It’s worth noting that the bumper adjustment can be a bit stiff at first, and unlocking it requires decent hand strength. That’s actually a double-edged sword: on one hand, it’s very difficult to force open (which is exactly what you want in a security device), but on the other, users with smaller or weaker hands may find it harder to disengage.In my testing at home, I found that the fit between the door and frame is important. On doors with a standard, tight gap, the lock seats securely and doesn’t budge. On doors with a wider gap (like mine, which is slightly more than a quarter inch), it still works but tends to rattle and doesn’t press as tightly as it should. That said, most hotel doors and apartment doors are built with tighter tolerances, so this shouldn’t be a problem in those settings.At $9.99, this is a fantastic value for the level of strength, peace of mind, and added security it provides. It’s a great addition to any traveler’s safety toolkit and an excellent backup option for renters and apartment dwellers too.

The portable door lock is a good solution for a temporary and quick door lock mechanism. However, it is limited in its usage depending on the exact size and type of door and slot.Strengths- Durable Construction: The material used is aluminum alloy, making it lightweight. It seems resistant to impact, but I have doubts about the degree of resilience.- Secure Fit: The adjustable knob allows for a decent fit across various door thicknesses and gaps, but may not work as effectively depending on the door width.- Quick and easy to set up: Takes barely 30 seconds to set up and is small and light to carry around while traveling or even to use at homeLimitations- Compatibility Issues: The lock performs best on thicker doors. I used it for a bedroom that can be opened from the outside, even when locked, where the door is like any regular new-home door and is thinner. The adjusting screw did not reach far enough to secure the lock properly, but it did prevent the door from being opened. With minimal design changes, they can accommodate more door types and sizes.In conclusion, this portable door lock is a useful security device ideal for frequent travelers and even around the house. While it may not suit all residential doors, its design and performance make it a good buy.
