Nice! Boil On the Go—But Be Safe With It
This portable electric kettle was a surprise find–the kind of thing I didn’t know I wanted. I do a fair amount of traveling and I like tea in the morning. Most hotels have tea, but only a pot of “hot” water to make your own. I put hot in quotes because the water is rarely hot enough, so the tea is bad. Enter this: it’s like an electric tea kettle and a travel mug had a love child. This thing is solid. Not “drag-it-up-a-mountain” heavy, but just enough heft to feel reassuring in the hand—even when full. The lid screws on tightly and snaps shut with a satisfying seal. I tested it upside down (because science), and not a single drip. Impressive.⚠️ Word of caution: do not leave the lid sealed when you turn it on to boil water. That’s how steam builds up and turns your travel mug into a pressure cooker. There’s a tiny red-lettered warning on the lid, but I can already hear the distant cries of someone who didn’t read it and now has a scorched thumb. So yes, read the instructions. It looks like a travel mug—and it is—but it’s also a mini kettle. The inside gets hot.💧 Heating performance? Slower than my everyday kitchen kettle, but not annoyingly so. It’s fast enough for travel or desk use. I love the four temperature settings (212, 185, 131, and 113°F)—especially since I drink a lot of green tea, which prefers a gentler touch. Bonus points for the LED display that lights up when you select a temperature and tracks the heat climb in real time. Very sci-fi tea ceremony.🔥 One quirk: after turning it off at 175°F, I waited three minutes and took a cautious sip. Still burned my lip. Turns out the water kept heating a bit post-shutdown—probably residual heat from the element. I checked with a thermometer and it was over 180°F. So if you’re aiming for precision, give it a minute longer to cool or test with your own thermometer. Not a dealbreaker, just something to note.🎨 Aesthetically, it matches the listing photo. Smooth powder-coated finish, and the connector port on the back has a rubber cover that seals it when unplugged—nice touch for travel mode.☕️ I had grand plans to decant my lukewarm chai lattes from coffee shops into this and heat them to perfection. Then I remembered: it needs to be plugged in. So yes, it’s portable ish—great as a travel mug, but the kettle function requires a power outlet. That said, outlets aren’t unicorns. I might still try this at an airport gate someday.💡 Final thoughts: This little powerhouse earns its keep. The build quality is solid, the functionality is thoughtful, and it came out of the box clean—no weird factory smells or mystery residue. Considering the price, it punches above its weight. I’ve seen mugs that cost more and do little more than hold disappointment and lukewarm coffee.Just remember: this isn’t your average kettle. You’re probably used to electric kettles that sit politely on the counter. This one’s designed to go where you go—and yes, eventually come up to your very heat-vulnerable face. Prioritize your safety and treat it with the same respect you’d give any boiling-hot appliance–even though it doesn’t get hot on the outside, remember how scorching it can get on the inside. Decent option on a budget
[Portable Electric Kettle with Tea Infuser-Mini Electric Kettle with 4 Temperature Settings, and Auto Shut Off & Boil Dry Protection]$23.99Quality is decent, but there are options with better stainless (304 vs 316) if that is important to you. Time to boiling is not super fast but it’s good enough. It is portable and has double-wall insulation to keep your drink hot for a while, but obviously it won’t reheat unless you plug it in again as there is no battery. I prefer it this way, fewer things to go wrong. The main use case for this IMO is for travel, to avoid those gross hotel appliances or to have a compact kettle when one is not readily available. My main complaint is that I’d like a pour-friendly spout option. Also keep in mind if you fill up to the line, you might get some boiling water splattering over the edges. The tea strainer is cute and a nice touch.

Compact, useful travel kettle
I picked up this Travel Brew portable kettle with the idea of having hot water on hand for tea without having to mess with a full-sized kettle or a microwave. About 8 inches tall, it holds about the volume of a disposable water bottle. This size is kind of perfect for a cup or two. It’s not going to replace your kitchen kettle, but it’s quite handy for travel or just keeping on your desk. The kettle itself feels pretty solid. It’s lightweight, but doesn’t feel flimsy. The outer shell is plastic, but the inner pot is stainless steel, which is good. The kettle uses the same kind you’d use for a laptop charger. The included plug is a decent length (about 25.5 inches). If you need longer, you can probably just use an existing laptop charger cord, which is convenient.I tested the temperatures to verify whether they were accurate. I wasn’t able to test the 212F temperature since I am at about 4000 feet in elevation, and the water boiled at 204F. It takes about 10 minutes to boil at my elevation, which isn’t terrible. The rest of the temperature settings were pretty accurate. My meat thermometer was within a degree or two of the settings on the kettle. 185°F read as 183-181°F, 131°F was spot on, and 113°F came in at 111°F. The kettle flashes “bbb” on the screen when it hits temperature and switches to a mode to hold that temp. I found 131°F to be a good setting for a nice cup of tea or two.The build quality seems decent. It doesn’t rattle or feel cheap. There’s a cover over the plug to prevent water getting in, which is a nice touch. It’s insulated and seems to hold the temperature pretty easily once it’s reached. You can change the temperature by hitting the power button – it cycles through 212°F (start), 185°F, 113°F, 131°F, and then off.Overall, it’s a compact and useful kettle. It’s not going to win any design awards, but it does what it’s supposed to do – boils water – and it does it pretty well. If you’re looking for a compact, portable kettle for travel or just keeping on your desk, this one is worth considering.

not battery powered must be plugged in to socket
I thought this was battery powered and you can take it on the go like it said in the photos but it needs to be plugged in to a socket with a ground thing. so you need to plug it in to a wall. I’m disappointed about that. it’s not as travel friendly as i hoped it would be. gave me 3 different arivel dates and at one point it almost didn’t come. the cup heats pretty fast and water boils pretty fast too. I would have loved it if it was actually travel friendly and didn’t need a wall socket. the cup does make sound when at its highest setting. and the out side does get fairly warm.
