Simple, smart and a must for any traveler. You can use it on the main door of a rental or on the bedroom door for extra protection. Easy to use right out of the box. Small, easy to carry and I like the little bag it comes with for travel. Easy to throw in a purse, backpack or suitcase.

This lock catches the pocket of the door frame; then the outer piece swivels. providing a brace that helps to keep the door secure.It’s especially good for foiling bad guys who might try to open a door latch using a credit card. I’m not sure how well it would hold up against someone who tries to kick open a door, as it is small and made of a zinc alloy metal. And if the door also has a deadbolt, it’s unnecessary.The lock requires a 2mm gap between the door and frame, and may not fit every door, especially in Europe where many hotels and apartments have older, thicker doors without standard clearances.I wouldn’t use this on a daily basis in my house–installing a deadbolt is better, as it’s stronger and easier to use. A deadbolt is also quicker and easier to open if you’re inside and need emergency help because of a fire or medical condition.But for traveling, this lock is handy and can provide an extra layer of protection.
