If your going to do it then overdo it.
It’s a pretty valid design and concept you can lock doors that swing outward from inside. And there is no way to defeat It without ripping the door open. So on a hollow interior door or one with hinges that are unscrewed from the outside you wouldn’t be using this. But most doors that are exterior or to garage are open outward and made of a solid material that won’t bend or break too easy. These would be especially useful for places like hotels, because they can be opened by staff or if you lost a key card or have some reason to be extra secure, I would suggest getting three. Putting them across from the hinges in a head. Hip . KneeAcross from the hinges holding the other half of the door. It would be at least as effective as having another deadbolt locked if not better. Just keep in mind that you might be locking out weirdos, but you might just be locking out paramedics and stuff if you have a heart attack or fall in the shower. They are definitely worth having if your someone who is either valuable enough or has things that are valuable enough to be worth protecting, if your someone that has nothing that a deranged predatory escaped convict would want or harm, then you wouldn’t really be worried about it. If you have family, or money, or that general prey animal look, or people just want to get you because your shoes are better. Or her ex boyfriend still has a key but your not accepting company yet. Or maybe the UFOs ARE real and this is the last line of defense between your dignity and an invasive examination, if it ever comes in handy once then it is Worth the price. Even if it doesn’t stop someone super determined, it will guarantee a lot of noise and some time to get yourself ready to exert your authority over your immediate environment. I mean most people honestly can pick a lock. It’s easier than a person thinks, a person could, depending on the door, smash their way through it to defeat 3 of these, but they aren’t going to do it quietly. Like they can if it’s just a deadbolt and knob. You would have to warp the door really really hard inward to get it through the frame if it opens outward. And you can’t open it outward because your grip on the knob to pull isn’t going to pull hard enough. The fastest way to beat this is using a tool to pry open the edge of the door. At each lock. So head, midway, and knee height Of the door has to be ripped outward to let the door open, plus the deadbolt. Thats alot of noise and work and risk, if somebody is doing that then locking them out isn’t going to be enough no matter what. But this would still give good advanced warning.

Works as it is supposed to
Works as it should, I like to have one of these devices around for random travels but did test it on our home doors. It works by hooking into the recessed area the door bolt clicks into when you close the door. In our hollow interior doors the doors would close but wouldn’t click, however we were then able to affix this tool and you’re unable to open the door regardless. Hotel type doors tend to have a little more space in that area and may click closed. I will say that if you are in a rush to get out while this is on, it’s absolutely a pain to remove but that’s a design flaw of all of these similar tools. However if I was in a hotel and worried for our safety I would be thrilled to have this tool along.
