An AMAZING Carrier, If You’re Researching Carriers, Stop Now!!!
I live in Hawaii, and I hike at least once a week, usually even more frequently than that. My hikes are usually anywhere between 3-8 miles, and usually include an elevation gain of 600 to 2,000 feet. I needed a top-of-the-line child carrier that was lightweight, sturdy, had convenient compartments, and MOST IMPORTANTLY was comfortable enough that my daughter would sleep in it. Literally money was no object, I just wanted the best carrier I could find.I did so much research and am so satisfied with this carrier, I’m leaving a really detailed review for all the other parents out there who may be researching like I was. I am in LOVE with this carrier, and so are my children. It is truly one of the best baby purchases I have ever made. There are so many pros, I will try and list them all here:1. Child Cockpit Comfortability – It has extra padding and very soft fabric around. My daughter (who is notoriously not a great sleeper) almost always falls asleep in this carrier. This, to me, is the best part of this carrier, and ultimately the reason I purchased it. This is what sets this carrier apart from all others. I could not find any other carriers that had this quality of child seat that would facilitate naps.2. You can adjust the tightness of the child cockpit so that it is tighter for when they fall asleep. Their head ends up more supported than other carriers.3. The side panel opens on the backpack so that your kids can climb in. My 2 year can climb right in herself, which is so convenient, rather than trying to squeeze them in and get little chubby legs to fit in the exact leg holes. You can adjust the side panel as well.4. Adjustable for height of your child AND your own height (based on torso length). This did take me a bit of time to figure out the adjustments. I found some Deuter videos on YouTube that I watched to figure out the adjustments, and it is perfect now. Make sure that is tight on your hips and your hips are carrying the weight. You can also adjust how tightly the carrier fits against your body, which is really nice so that it doesn’t feel like they are swaying around on your back.5. Very comfortable for my shoulders and back. I had a lot of back problems and shoulder problems postpartum, and I am always nervous about using a carrier, but no issues with this one.6. Belt compartments are very convenient. One fits a larger phone, which is nice to have easy access to on your belt, rather than having to take your kid off your back to access your phone. The other compartment has a hook for keys, also convenient to have access to right there.7. Kickstand is very convenient and pops out easily.8. There are little feet straps for your baby. My toddler doesn’t like them, but they are nice to have as an option.9. Handhold on the back of the carrier is nice for moving the backpack around with a kid already in it, or transferring from one parent to the other.10. This backpack is sturdy enough it can even hold my 5 year old.11. Mesh back keeps this cooler than other packs.Cons:1. Less storage than the other hiking backpacks I’ve used, but it has always been enough for me. I am even able to fit a kids travel potty chair in the top compartment with no issues (sorry if that is gross, but we’re potty training, and that means the chair goes on hikes)2. There isn’t a great place to store the sunshade.3. The sunshade rests on the top of my head when walking. this is minimal and really doesn’t do anything other than feeling it on me. It does not push my head forward when looking uphill like other models, as it goes over my head. I guess this is actually another pro, because this was a big issue I had with my Kelty model.

Highly recommended based off of carrying a two year-old on a long hike
We got this pack for going to the Grand Canyon and hiking with our two-year-old. It was super comfortable. We put a camel pack inside to drink out of. I carried our child 10-20 miles over the course of the week and didn’t have a problem plenty of room for snacks. Awesome shade cover super easy to get on and off.The kickstand can be a little bit stiff but was super helpful for setting the pack down with our child still inside.

Great Ride!
This is an excellent carrier. Even 7 months pregnant, I was able to comfortably carry my 25lb toddler for a few hours. The placement of the handles makes it convenient to get it on and off. The stand is great for setting little ones down. Overall, highly recommended. I appreciate the ability to add a bladder, we also got a 3L Deuter bladder to go with it. The storage is generous in my opinion. I could fit lunch and a couple diapers/wipes in the backpack part. Chapstick, a small amount of first aid items, phone, cash, could fit in the pouches on the waist belt. If your going for longer than a few hours, then someone else might be necessary to carry more gear. I usually only go out for about 5 hours max so this can fit what I’d need in there. Worth the price. If I could change one thing, I wish there was a spot to add a toddler water bottle on the side.

Comfortable for me and the kid
I almost purchased a cheaper model since this one was a bit (almost double) more expensive. I don’t regret the purchase for a sec. Our little one is at about 23 lbs and we have done 2 hikes so far. The first was 4 miles (2000ft vert) and the next was 5.8 miles with 1700 of vert. I also played a round of disk golf with him on my back… (He was comfortable but it was very difficult to throw.) Overall, (on the hikes) I find the pack to be super comfortable. The mesh with the air gap keeps my back cool and most importantly my son also finds it very comfortable! He is a mad man and is difficult to keep in any seat for very long but he loves being in this thing. He even sleeps for a good chunk of the hikes so I know he’s comfortable. The only (very minor) things to note. I find the sunshade a bit tough to store. It fits but you have to really fold it up well making sure to not bend the supports. Maybe on future revisions, they will make it slide in and out as I have seen on some other models. Secondly, The camel pack compartment is a bit tight but this may be due to the size/shape of the camelback I own. (it didn’t come with a hydrations pack….) overall HIGHLY RECOMMEND!UPDATE: We had our 2nd kid and I am now wearing kid #1 on my back all around the house (making dinner mostly.) because he wants to see what’s going on. Still super comfortable for me and i know he is comfortable because he will walk up to it (while on the ground) and get in himself and he gets angry if you take him out. This pack is awesome.

Perfect!
It took some adjusting but when we got it just right I can carry my 2yr old and not feel like she’s on my back. It distributes the weight really well and is easy to wear for long hikes. She was comfortable and loves the backpack. She asks to go for rides all the time.We adjusted it to a “small frame female with a long torso” and with only 2 minor changes that were easy to do on the trail while walking could swap it to the “average size male” and both were comfortable.Love that it came with the shade canopy because I was unable to find one separately when I was shopping and assumed we were stuck going without one.
