Excellent
Is was taller than I expected, sturdy, easy adjustment, it’s worth more than I paid for. It gives you hight adjustment in many ways, really high to really low. It would make a great investment or gift.

Does the job, but feels flimsy
I took it on a trip overseas and it did the job and helped record a very special moment. This fit perfectly in my luggage and felt stable when using it on my Sony camera. However, I don’t feel like it felt sturdy and I was very mindful of it when using it because it was carrying a really expensive camera. I would like if the material was thicker and weighed more so it felt more sturdy.

Great portable tripod for the money with lots of good features and a few compromises.
This is an impressively good tripod for the price. I was expecting it to be flimsy and unstable, but was pleasantly surprised when I opened it. Although it does have its share of plastic parts, the legs and structural parts are made of cast aluminum and the legs are held on by steel bolts. There’s a lot to like about this tripod and I will list my favorite points. First, it is very compact and portable without sacrificing height thanks to the triple extendable leg segments. This allows it to be used as a short, table-top tripod, a full-height standing tripod, and any height in between.Adjustments are quick and easy and flexible. You can adjust the leg heights and the center pole height. The mounting head adjusts 360 degrees horizontally and just under 180 degrees vertically. The vertical angle adjustment handle is comfortable and easy to use.The tripod has adjustable angles on the legs which allow it to to be set to wider and narrower footprints. This allows for more stability with the wider footprints. The widest leg adjustment actually allows the legs to swing all the way out horizontally so the tripod can be used very close to a flat surface or the ground. This gives very firm footing, but also suffers from vertical flex that can cause jitteriness if using it for video.Where the cost savings come in that allow these to be sold at the very reasonable price that they are is in the camera head. While the legs and associated hardware are sturdy and mostly aluminum, the camera head is all plastic. It seems sturdy enough for general use and I have even used my Nikon SLR with 300mm zoom lens on it without any real problems, but it’s not ideal. The main issue is that the plastic parts tend to flex, making locking everything in place a little challenging with a full-sized camera. On the other hand, the included cell phone bracket works well and the lower weight of a cell phone doesn’t cause the sagging issues that a larger, heavier camera does. I also have doubts that the plastic parts will hold up as long as the aluminum base.

Good Starter Tripod
✦Overview✦: Smallrig Aluminum Tripod. As a professional videographer, I use Smallrig products daily. I wanted to get a starter tripod for my daughter. Excited to see if this consumer version (nonprofessional gear) follows the same standards as their prosumer/professional gear.✦Build/Design✦: Not as robust as their professional products – but at this price point, it’s not supposed to be. But for the price, there is decent value here.✦Functionality✦: As a starter tripod or as marketed as a travel tripod…this works well. Size is perfect for air travel and attached to the outside of a backpack it should make it through TSA without issue.✦Stand Outs✦: Design is very compact when closed but still has almost 68” of height when fully opened.✦Room for Improvement✦: At this price point, there really isn’t room for anything. They have put a lot into this one.✦Conclusion✦: As mentioned, good travel tripod or starter tripod and I would recommend this product.

A solid SmallRig tripod for smaller mirrorless cameras and phone. Worth a look!
While this tripod is not going to do much for a working pro photographer, as a lightweight option for a mirrorless vlogging camera or phone, it’s outstanding. The leg section locks are easy to use, and effective at keeping the sections from slipping. The center column is ok for anything small, but I would hesitate to extend it for anything larger than the smallest mirrorless cameras. The included accessories are handy. The tripod head will handle any of the loads that the tripod can support, so it gets points for convenience. The phone holder is similarly useful. The carry bag is surprisingly well made.Overall, if you are looking for something small, light, and feature rich, it’s hard to beat this tripod for the price.

Solid tripod, with an odd head
Overall the construction on this feels nice and stable but the one thing I discovered is that panning the head left and right tends to loosen and tighten it so sometimes it might be too difficult to move and sometimes it might be too loose to stay put. I haven’t been able to find a way to secure it to the tripod independent of the panning. So I wouldn’t use this for anything more than stabilized still shots. Otherwise it seems pretty easy to use for that.

Unfair to write a comment as this was purchased as a Christmas gift. However, it looks very sturdy and well made. It’s also very well packaged.

I already use Smallrig cages and thought I may also obtain a tripod for my projects. This is indeed a decent tripod, quite affordable compared to some other high end and lighter models. In this regard this tripod has good value and does the job. The video head is nothing special but honestly if you want a very good videohead you have to spend much more money for high end equipment.I wouldn’t carry this everywhere with me but can just easily transport it in my car with other equipment, as it includes a neat carry case.Overall I can recommend this, it has a solid build and sized appropriately for a hybrid camera.
