This alarm is loud enough to cause a scene and get the attention of nearby people. Super lightweight and attaches easily to keychain or purse. The alert tab is easy to pull, so I do worry that the alarm tab will pull out while in my bag or purse. That being said, I haven’t needed to use it yet and I hope I won’t have to. I think this would ‘pair well’ with additional defense items or a pepper spray.

It looks exactly as shown in the photos in the listing.This personal safety alarm is a nice-looking and fairly compact device. If you purchase it, do yourself a favor and familiarize yourself with it immediately. It’s almost intuitive to use, but if you use it immediately and it will be easier under stress. Just yank out the plug, and then put it back. Besides, it should be fully charged as soon as possible. Mine arrived well charged, but there’s no obvious indicator for that. It takes a little jerk to pull out the pin and set off the alarm and a strobe light. A nice gentle slow motion just doesn’t do it. It’s fairly loud, but 140 decibels (which is a jet taking off) seems like a stretch. It IS loud though, and sounds like some car alarms. There’s also a strobe light, which would attract attention at night. Replacing the pin in the slot stops the alarm and the strobe. You can test this device indoors, because just putting a thumb over the small speaker will decrease the sound dramatically.The pin is attached, so it won’t get lost easily. The entire device is attached to a keyring, of sorts, with a spring opening. So it can be easily attached to a zipper, for example, or a handbag, or another keyring, etc. It weighs about 1 ounce, which is pretty lightweight. For comparison, my full array of car keys and house keys weighs 3 ounces. I might attach this device to my keyring so I know where it is, and then just detach it and carry it separately, for example, before exiting the car after dark.The battery is not replaceable, and the specs say it holds its charge for over a year. I’m inclined to recharge it regularly, however. It did arrive partly charged, and I tested the alarm for a full ten minutes, and then recharged it. The device comes with a six-inch USB-C cable for charging, but a longer one could be used. There’s a tiny charging indicator right next to the plug for the cable. The indicator is red when charging, and green when fully charged. And it doesn’t blink, unless the battery is very low. The instructions say that it will also beep when the battery is low, but I didn’t test for that. The instructions also say that the alarm will sound for 90 minutes when the battery is fully charged. I didn’t test that either.The device is rated IP 56 for dust and water. That’s moderate for dust but very good water-resistance. You can walk in pouring rain with it, but not go swimming.There’s one small oddity. When fully charged, if the cable is unplugged and almost immediately plugged back in, the red light goes on and it looks like the device is charging again. But that lasts only about 20-30 seconds, then the indicator turns back to green, and eventually turns off.I really like this safety alarm. It seems like good quality and a very good value. But it’s only one tool in the toolbox, as they say. It’s an aid, and not a substitute for staying aware and alert. I might purchase several of these to give as gifts. If I do, I’ll open each one carefully, test it, and charge it fully beforehand so that it’s completely ready to use right out of the box. The product packaging is attractive, and would be only marginally disturbed by one small cut on a piece of tape to open the box.I definitely recommend this personal safety alarm, and will be carrying it myself. And hopefully I won’t ever have to use it.

This would be great if you’re not in the US.
This alarm is palm sized for most women. You can carry it on your keys or other ways. It is easy to charge.The pull design to trigger the alarm is good if you’re in a country that is used to them. It isn’t sensitive enough to discharge accidentally if you have it in your hand. But you can pull it accidentally if you catch it in your bag and you have it on your keys. The light is so-so as far as being bright. It is very durable and the design is sound, but it might be hard for a child or elderly person to pull. You might want them to try before you give it to them.The biggest issues I found were isn’t doesn’t get terribly loud (as far as alarms in the US) and no one in the US knows what that alarm means. If you’re in Asia everyone knows what that personal alarm sound means. I pulled it for several people and they all said they wouldn’t know that someone pulled it in response to danger – which means they wouldn’t know someone needed help. I have no idea of it would deter someone.
