Cautionary Tales –
DIVERS: Sole is VERY rigid and may interfere with fin fitment
First things to know if you’re a scuba diver:Sizing: These run just a wee bit small if you go just by the sizing in the selection boxes (I couldn’t figure out which was more true between the selector and the image of the size chart in the product listing as you scroll down the page, which only served to confuse me more). I know I’m pretty much a size 41 and ended up with what they call Men’s 8 / Ladies 9, because a 9 typically works for me for any type of water shoes, and it just barely fits but my toes graze the end of the boot. This will work given how I’ll use it, but just know it’s an only-barely situation.SOLE: The sole of these, if you intend to scuba dive, is thick and rigid, which is great here in the Pacific Northwest given that you’re basically squatting 100 lbs out of water across barnacle-encrusted rocks if you aren’t in a dry suit, BUT it can be a weird fit getting your fins on over these boots. I haven’t had a chance to try these on an actual dive yet, but I did slide my fins over them and it feels pretty weird; I hope the fins stay on.I did walk into the sound with these on and they are TOASTY. Like, crazy warm. These are very thick and insulating. The shape fits my feet and ankles with no problem, but I have slim ankles. If you have wides legs / ankles, you could potentially run into problems because they aren’t terribly wide. I’d say they are a slim-to-medium fit up the ankle; if you have very wide calves, you might look for a different style.

They’re well-made and perfect for anyone who wants reliable foot protection in aquatic environments
I recently tried out the Goldfin water boots, also known as surf booties, and I’m thoroughly impressed. They fit true to size and are incredibly comfortable, providing excellent thermal properties to keep your feet warm in cooler waters. The tread on the sole is robust, offering great grip whether you’re kayaking, surfing, paddleboarding, or simply enjoying the beach. One of the standout features is how these boots allow you to feel the surface beneath your feet, making them perfect for rocky or uneven terrains. They protect against sharp objects like oyster shells or rocks while still maintaining a lightweight and flexible design.Additionally, the boots feature a convenient side zipper with an internal protective layer, ensuring no discomfort around your ankle. The Velcro strap over the zipper acts as a safety lock, preventing any accidental unzipping while you’re moving in the water.Overall, these water boots are versatile enough to be used as deck shoes on a boat, keeping your feet warm and comfortable without weighing you down. And, I even plan on using them when flounder gigging along the gulf coast. They’re well-made and perfect for anyone who wants reliable foot protection in aquatic environments.

Enough room for my giant feet, and still snug enough when zipped to not come off in a sticky spot.
These fit true to size. I have large calves and ankles and the zippers still can be pulled all the way up. They feel very pleasant to wear, and the inside is quite comfortable. When zipped up they can most of the sand and any silt/muck out of your feet when entering and exiting the water, and offer a bit of protection from rocks too. I was worried about being able to open the neck enough to get my giant feet in, and fortunately they are slightly stretchy and it was not tug of war to get them on. Quite easy, really. With the short trial time it is difficult to comment on durability, but if the stitching and zipper are representative of the overall quality, then I have high confidence in the longevity of these boots. Very excited to be able to select and review this product.

Nice boots
I needed a new pair and figured I would try an affordable alternative this time. These diving boots do not disappoint. They fit perfect and are very comfortable high quality neoprene. The thickness is just right to keep your toes warm. The zippers are the big plastic kind that glide effortlessly. These boots are very nice and functional.

Functional boots with good traction soles
The Goldfin water boots are a flexible but sturdy boot with a very good rubber sole that should serve a variety of water uses.I use the 3mm neoprene booties a lot this time of year under my fins when using a fishing float tube. This exposes them to cooler water, of course, and also a variety of lake bottom and shoreline surfaces. For me, the Goldfins offer the proper balance of flexibility and support to take on the lake. They keep the feet warm while doing so.I’ve not used them for wade fishing yet but expect to do so and think they’ll also serve the purpose. These might be overkill for beach activities. They are quite flexible but not as much as a pure wading sock used under boots or on their own. On the other hand, the 3mm neoprene is good for cool to cold temps but not warm enough for very cold winter temperatures. At least for me.The construction of these boots make me think they’ll last. My last 3mm booties, a name brand that cost more than these, lasted about five years. The stitching and zippers on the Goldfins are tight and strong.I was delighted that they fit exactly to size, helping assure comfort as well as functionality.
