This car seat protector can offer some protection from dirty kid shoes scuffing up the lower part of your back seat, but it’s not perfect.This car seat protector comes as one piece that arrives in a simple plastic sleeve. There are no instructions. You are supposed to insert this “tab” part of the protector in between the top and bottom parts of your car’s rear seat. Then you have to position it so you can install a car seat on top of it. It will allow you to install a seat using the seat belt or the latch system.There are a couple things to note. The protector is mostly stable, but there is a chance it could cause a car seat to slip a little more in an accident. So I don’t recommend you install it while your child is facing backwards as it doesn’t offer any protection for the car. I mostly recommend if you are using it with a forward-facing car seat where the kid’s feet hang off the side of the car seat and scuff up the bottom part of the rear car seat/bench. That’s when the protector actually does something. Beyond that, I recommend that you use it with a car seat that still has a back to it (not a simple booster seat), with a strap that goes over the back of the car’s rear seat, between the headrest posts, and latches on to the back-side of the car’s rear seat back. This way the baby car seat will be as stable as possible to negate any potential slippage from the mat underneath.There are a couple mesh pouches on the bottom part of this protector, but they don’t make much sense. What are you going to put in those mesh pouches? And that’s the whole point of the protector…to prevent dirty kid shoes from scuffing up the bottom side of the rear car bench. So then the kid’s shoes are just going to get whatever you have in those mesh pouches incredibly dirty. It doesn’t make sense. I’m not using those mesh pouches for anything.So there is some value in this type of car seat protector, but I think it’s mostly for ages 4-7 when you are probably using those little kid seats that still have a back and can still use the latch system with that extra strap that goes over the car’s seat through the headrest posts to secure the kid seat to the car tighter.

This is, hands down, one of the best products I’ve used in a while. It’s so genius and I had never considered that something like these seat protectors were even a thing.It fit into my car seat easily and I was able the get my daughters child seat safely installed on top. The thick padding keeps the baby seat from leaving marks and impression. The material makes cleaning so simple and easy to do. There are pouches that hang down on the front, but we won’t be needing them for a while as the baby seat is turned around.The material and stitching seem very solid and they should provide years of use. Definitely something every parent should have to protect their car seats.
