Perfect for Sunny Climate – Keeps you cool while protecting your skin
I love this umbrella. This is the second one I’ve purchased. I still use the first one I purchased about 12 years ago, but it is silver and is starting to look a little “tired” . When I saw this umbrella in blue, I thought it was so pretty that I decided to treat myself to a new one.As a resident in San Diego, we have many sunny days, and the UV rating gets higher all the time. As a fair skinned person, I take UV protection very seriously. I’ve tried UV rated clothing, but always felt so uncomfortable due to the type of material used to create the UV protection. They claim to be “wicking” but that doesn’t reduce the warmth I feel. The same goes for wearing a hat. It’s just too uncomfortable since all my heat escapes through my head, not to mention how it “flattens” my hair. Using this umbrella makes the heat and sun very bearable as I walk to the gym or run errands each day, and I can wear sleeveless tank tops without concern for the sun. Of course, I’ve been doing this for years so I’m used to the odd looks I get sometimes, but most people say, “what a great idea.”I noticed that some reviews complain about the weight of the umbrella since it is considered a travel umbrella. This weight is caused by the thickness of the spines, which is what makes it such a quality umbrella. But holding it in position has never felt uncomfortable to me at all. This sturdiness is really helpful on windy days. On very windy days I have had it turn inside out, but I just turned the umbrella to face the opposite direction and it reverted back to its original shape. I have since learned how to hold the umbrella so that the dome faces the wind, and it won’t turn inside out. However, this happens only on extremely windy days.As far as comfort goes, I once went to a store opening event and upon arrival saw the the line to get in was long and shade was limited; most people were standing in the sun. I did not have my UV umbrella with me, so I grabbed the small black rain umbrella I keep in the car. As I stood in line, I felt the heat despite of the shade that the umbrella provided. It was stifling! That is the problem with regular umbrellas since they don’t reflect the sun so you get heated while using them. The Coolibar umbrella stays cool underneath and is very comfortable.I think the $49 price of Coolibar’s umbrella is reasonable for the quality. I paid the same price 12 years ago, and in the case of umbrellas, you definitely get what you pay for. I highly recommend this umbrella for anyone who is concerned about UV rays and being comfortable in the sun.

Beat the heat with Coolibar’s cool (and cooling) umbrella!
I was given this item to review. This Coolibar sun shade umbrella made taking a walk in the sun a pleasure. It is the size of a regular rain umbrella so easy to handle. You slip off the cover and push the button on the handle to unfold the umbrella (don’t do this in the house!). Pulling the stem and attached ribs folds the umbrella up.As summers get hotter, a sun umbrella becomes a necessity. This well made umbrella should last for quite a while making shade for you when there seems to be none outside.

Good sun protection, but too uncomfortable and awkward to hold
Umbrella has a funky, fishy smell when you first open it. This didn’t bug me too much because I figured the smell would go away with use. I bought it as a hiking umbrella but with a light breeze, it quickly flipped over. When it didn’t flip, the handle was quite uncomfortable to hold so I had to hold it closer to the frame. Provides great sun protection, but overall, this is something that I won’t use while hiking because it was too awkward to hold during a long hike.

Why are people complaining??
I don’t know what people are complaining about. High quality UPF 50+ protection umbrella. No heavier than a regular umbrella, the handle is nice with a coating to help with grip. Came in its own protective case. Had a normal production smell that’s not overpowering and will dissipate once the umbrella has been opened and used some. Easy to open, easy to close. This is a great addition to cut down on sun exposure and the FL heat. I would definitely buy it again.

Great product! Just wish it were a little more durable.
I live in Arizona, and have a 20-minute walk into work every morning. I use this umbrella every day and it does its job well. It really does feel cooler when I walk under it — this can make the walk in to work bearable when it’s 100+ outside (whereas my regular rain umbrella does not). And more importantly, it seems to be very effective at shielding my skin from the sun. I’m fair-skinned and paranoid about cancer, and I feel very protected when I walk under my Coolibar.Two caveats. (1) This umbrella is thick and bulky and harder to fold up than a normal umbrella — you kind of have to muscle it. It comes in a little sheath and I’ve never once been able to get mine back into the sheath. (2) It only lasts so long. My first one lasted about two years of consistent but gentle use before starting to fall apart; I managed to get a third, limping year out of it. I’ve just received my second one — so, it was worth ordering again, but it would be nice if it lasted longer.

Practical and tasteful!! Get one you won’t regret it.
I love my Coolibar umbrella! I could not wait to get it out of the box and immediately use it on my long walk to the market. I started carrying an umbrella/parasol a couple of years ago, in addition to wearing a wide-brimmed straw hat Since then I have seen a few others pick up on this sensible idea. Most of the others were Asian woman. I was so glad to find this Coolibar titanium umbrella that had UV protection in a portable size. Not only is it convenient, it is not too heavy, and looks smart with every possible outfit. I also like the hunter green lining. Reminds me of the traditional dark green porch and beach umbrellas that I remember fondly from my childhood. This umbrella is chic, practical and makes a statement that you are an intelligent self-protective person. I love carrying it. It keeps me cool under a blazing hot southern sun. It stores easily it its own case and fits nicely into a tote bag when indoors.

Es la segunda vez que compro este paraguas de verdad me siento protegida del sol y sus efectos viviendo en Andalucía donde aveces se llega a más de 45 grados centígrados y aveces por donde tengo que caminar no hay sombra asi que lo uso mucho abriéndolo y cerrándolo el anterior lo compré en el 2014 y una de las patitas se me rompió el año pasado pero si le doy mucho uso .
